Our History
July 21, 1959 - Zion Lutheran Church
was formally organized with 131 members Pastor Ed Meyer was called to serve
as vacancy pastor.
April 17, 1960 - Groundbreaking ceremonies for new church
& education facility.
May 19, 1960 - Pastor Arthur C. Krueger was installed as
Zion’s first pastor.
September 10, 1961 - Dedication of the original church and
parish hall facilities.
February 16, 1967 - Pastor Darrel W. Geitz installed as pastor.
August 1974 - Zion Lutheran Kindergarten began with 11 students.
April 20, 1980 - New educational wing was dedicated.
1988 - A mortgage-burning celebration for the pay off of
the educational wing.
1990 - Zion Lutheran Extend Care is developed.
April 14, 1991 - Pastor Mark G. Press is installed as Pastor.
1992 - Zion Lutheran Preschool begins.
1996 - Laborers for Christ worked to add a 5,500 square foot
addition.
September 1997 - Dedication of the new addition.
August 2002 - Pastor Allen D. Wolka began serving as associate
pastor.
June 15, 2003 - Pastor Allen D. Wolka installed as pastor.
September 28, 2003 - Pastor Jeffrey Stuckwisch was installed
as associate pastor.
November 2003 - Zion’s membership has grown from 131
in 1959 to 692 in 2003.
